Bob is a nationally recognized expert in affordable, green and healthy housing with more than 30 years of experience working at the highest levels of housing finance and public policy. Prior to founding the MIC, Bob served as the Head of Affordable Housing and Green Financing Business at Fannie Mae where he led the creation of Fannie Mae’s green and healthy housing initiatives and helped develop innovative new approaches to financing that enabled Fannie Mae to become the leading provider of affordable multifamily debt in the country and the largest issuer of green bonds in the world. Over his 20-year career at Fannie Mae, Bob held a wide range of senior leadership positions across the multifamily business in the Conventional, Structured Finance, Small Loans, and Seniors housing business divisions. Prior to joining Fannie Mae, Bob worked for six and a half years as a Special Assistant and Senior Legislative Aide to Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle. Bob is a frequent speaker at housing industry conferences and is regularly quoted in national media and trade magazines. He is the editor of the Affordable Housing Handbook and the author of numerous op-eds and publications focusing on the business and social impact of affordable housing in the commercial residential real estate industry. Bob serves as a mentor and coach for the Housing Innovation Lab at the University of California-Berkeley and is a senior advisor to a select number of early-stage housing technology firms including Esusu, Pronto Housing, and WYL. He is the former national chairperson of the Urban Land Institute’s Affordable Workforce Housing Council and a founding member of the Fellowship Jazz Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Through over a decade of designing, implementing, evaluating, and communicating impact programs across the financial return spectrum, Rachel Mavrothalasitis has honed her expertise as an impact investor and tactician focused on the U.S. housing market. From 2018 to 2023, Rachel served as Director of Impact for Turner Impact Capital, a private equity, real estate firm dedicated to delivering socially enriching health, education, and housing infrastructure nationwide. There, she oversaw impact measurement and management for the firm, with dedicated attention to the suite of onsite resident services, such as health, safety, and credit building programs, offered to over 55,000 multifamily tenants. This work also included impact target setting, data pipeline and key performance indicator design, stakeholder engagement, policy creation, and investor and external reporting, including to third-party frameworks such as GRESB. Prior to her work at Turner Impact Capital, Rachel worked in crisis intervention, first with young children in the foster care system, and later as Director of Housing Advocacy for a low-barrier, trauma-informed service center for young people experiencing houselessness and housing insecurity. There, she oversaw youth advocacy, the rollout of the west Los Angeles Coordinated Entry System, and the design and delivery of all housing programs and partnerships, including a supportive housing program for parenting youth and LA’s first Host Homes program. Seeing the opportunity to leverage this range of direct service and administrative experiences to support emerging and reorienting impact funds and housing operators define their ESG and impact processes, Rachel launched Reach&Root Partners, LLC, in 2023, a consulting and advisory services firm. Since, she has been inspired by her clients’ creativity and commitment, and honored to drive strategy articulation, partnership development, and governance and data design on their behalf. Rachel is thrilled to be joining the Multifamily Impact Council for a focused engagement to advance the Multifamily Impact FrameworkTM and propel membership, furthering MIC’s meaningful contributions to the industry and ultimately elevating the experience of multifamily households broadly. Rachel graduated with honors from the University of California, Berkeley with Bachelors of Arts in Psychology and Public Health and a concentration on maternal and child wellbeing, and with honors from the University of Southern California, earning a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Social Work. Rachel sits on the Impact Capital Managers Talent and Diversity Working Group, NCREIF ESG Committee, and Pension Real Estate Association’s Social Impact Committee, which recently published the “What Is the S in ESG? A Guide for Real Estate Investors” to which Rachel was an active contributor. Rachel is a proud San Diegan, parent, and yogi and enjoys finding common ground to deliver outstanding results.

Amina Sam has her MBA in Real Estate from the University of Miami. Prior work experience includes LIHTC RFPs and affordable housing development with L+M Development Partners and Atlantic Pacific Companies. She was a Program Manager at Project Destined for 2 years where she taught real estate fundamentals to over 120 high school and college students in over 7 markets, and worked with MIC members such as Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Greystone, and CBRE (as sponsors of different Project Destined teams). She also gained some real estate tax experience at Deloitte and PwC, after obtaining her B.S. in Accounting from Brooklyn College. Amina is dedicated to MIC’s mission on a personal level as a Brooklynite who has been affected by development in Brooklyn that has not incorporated MIC’s principles. She hopes to have a positive impact on communities across the nation as more adopt the Framework, and across the world with her own developments.

Summer Haltli leads FCP’s impact investing strategy in multifamily housing with a focus on housing affordability and resident services. Since joining FCP in 2010, Summer has developed and implemented business plans for over 7,000 multifamily units and mixed-use projects totaling over $1.5 billion of value. She successfully executed over $1 billion in disposition and refinancing transactions while leading FCP’s ESG efforts. Summer founded FCP’s Sustainability, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and FCP SERVES committees. Summer serves as Vice Chair of the Multifamily Impact Council, a non-profit organization dedicated to establishing and maintaining multifamily impact investing principals. She serves as an Advisory Board member for University of Virginia Center for Real Estate and the Kayo Women in Real Estate Summit. Summer is a member of the Urban Land Institute Greenprint Center for Building Performance and the National Multifamily Housing Conference and is a Board Member Emeritus for City Kids Wilderness Project. Summer received her MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business Administration and her BS in Commerce from the University of Virginia. Prior work experience includes portfolio management at Bentall Kennedy and underwriting over $1 billion in office investment sales transactions at Jones Lang LaSalle.

Nick Ogden is the Founder and CEO of The Clear Blue Company (CBC), a Nashville-based private equity real estate firm. CBC manages over $850 million in assets and oversees 6,067 units across 16 markets in the Southeastern United States. CBC’s primary focus is on addressing the affordable housing crisis while delivering attractive returns to investors and promoting upward mobility for its residents. Nick is a strong advocate for increasing the supply of workforce housing as the key solution to this issue. CBC is tackling this challenge at a regional level through two main strategies: preserving existing workforce housing and developing new units. The long-term goal is to use their expertise and regional influence to impact national housing policy that will increase supply. Nick’s connection to Nashville began in 2003 when he moved to the city to attend Vanderbilt University, where he later met his wife. Currently residing in East Nashville with his wife and three children, he actively engages with the community as a Board member of Nashville Classical Charter School and the East End Neighborhood Association. Beyond his role at CBC, Nick is an engaged entrepreneur. He is an active participant in the Entrepreneurs Organization and serves as a mentor through the Nashville Entrepreneur Center and Urban League’s Red Academy. His commitment to addressing housing issues and fostering community development reflects his deep ties to Nashville and his dedication to creating positive change.

Greg MacKinnon is the Director of Research for the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA), a non-profit trade association for the global institutional real estate industry, a position he has held since 2009. His role includes providing the industry with information, research, and thought leadership on real estate investment issues. Prior to joining PREA, Greg was professor of finance at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Canada. His research on real estate investment has been published in the top academic journals, he writes extensively in industry publications, frequently speaks at industry events, and has been widely quoted in the media. Greg has been named a Fellow of the Homer Hoyt Institute, a Fellow of the Real Estate Research Institute, is co-editor of the bi-annual special real estate issue of The Journal of Portfolio Management, and was previously co-editor of the Journal of Real Estate Portfolio Management. He sits on the Board of the Real Estate Research Institute and is a past Board member of the Atlantic Canada CFA Society. Greg holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Alberta and is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder.

Thom serves as the Senior Vice President for Policy & Impact at Lincoln Avenue Capital. He is responsible for leading Lincoln Avenue Capital’s public affairs, state and federal policy advocacy as well as impact initiatives. Thom is a nationally recognized leader in affordable housing and community development policy. He serves on the board of the Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition and is the Executive Director of Fairview Housing Partners, a non-profit dedicated to expanding access to quality, affordable homes around the country. Prior to joining Lincoln Avenue Capital, he served as President of the National Housing & Rehabilitation Association (NH&RA), where he received the NHP Foundation’s Affordable Housing Advocacy Award in 2018. Thom contributes to numerous community development organizations and has been published in a variety of industry journals including Tax Credit Advisor, Independent Banker, and the Novogradac Journal of Tax Credits. He was previously employed at a national lobbying firm focused on financial services and technology issues. Before moving to Washington, he worked in media relations in the New York State Assembly and as an assistant for New Hampshire Governor Jeanne Shaheen. Thom graduated Magna Cum Laude from Tufts University with a double major in Political Science and History.

Shekar Narasimhan is the Managing Partner at Beekman Advisors which provides strategic advisory services to companies and investors involved in real estate, mortgage finance, affordable housing and related sectors. Shekar is a Co-Founder for the Remergent Communities Fund, an Opportunity Zone Fund, focusing on small towns and cities in the Southeast U.S. Prior to Beekman Advisors, Shekar Narasimhan was a Managing Director of Prudential Mortgage Capital Company, one of the nation’s leading providers of commercial mortgage financing. Immediately prior to Shekar’s time at Prudential, he was Chairman & CEO of the WMF Group, a publicly traded, commercial mortgage financial services company. WMF was one of the largest such firms in the country before being acquired by Prudential in 2000. Shekar is a former Chairman and Commissioner for the Virginia Housing Development Authority. Previously, he also served as a Member of the Board for Housing and Community Development in Virginia, and as a Commissioner on President Obama’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Shekar is currently serving on the boards of Enterprise Community Partners, Inc., Democracy Alliance, the Sorenson Institute for Political Leadership, and the Multifamily Impact Council Research Fund Board of Trustees. He is on the Advisory Committee for the Bipartisan Policy Center’s J. Ronald Terwilliger Center for Housing Policy, the Council of Advisors for the Center for American Progress and is a member of the Urban Institute’s Policy Leadership Council. He has served on many boards, including Broadstone Net Lease, the Low Income Investment Fund, the Community Preservation and Development Corporation, the National Housing Conference and the National Multi Housing Council. Shekar also served several terms on the Mortgage Bankers Association of America (MBA) Board of Directors, was the first Chair of the MBA’s Commercial/Multifamily Board of Governors (COMBOG) and founded its Multifamily Steering Committee. He was elected as the first Chair of the Fannie Mae DUS Advisory Committee. He is a sought-after speaker on housing finance and affordable housing and is considered a leading expert on rental housing issues in the United States. Shekar co-founded and is President of the Dharma Into Action (DhIA) Foundation, an association of Dharmic American leaders and philanthropists collaborating to create a community-based think tank that identify and respond to urgent needs in the community by providing resources, knowledgebase and relevant information to serve Americans in need. He was on the founding board of Indiaspora, a nonprofit organization founded by community leaders to unite Indian Americans and to transform their success into meaningful impact in India and on the global stage. Shekar was also Co-Founder of Upakar Foundation, a higher education scholarship fund. Shekar has received numerous awards and recognition in the real estate industry including the MBA’s highest honor in 1999 and the Fannie Mae Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003. In 2010, he was the recipient of the Dean H.J. Zoffer Distinguished Service Medal from the University of Pittsburgh. Shekar holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, India and an MBA from the Katz Graduate School of Business, University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Chris Herrmann is Executive Vice President, Head of Real Estate Equity, operating under Enterprise Community Investment, an Enterprise Community Partners affiliate. He is responsible for raising, structuring and managing equity funds, as well as managing the teams that originate and close investment opportunities, asset manage the portfolio and report to investors. Chris has been involved with this business at Enterprise since it was created in 2013. The team’s portfolio includes more than 10,000 affordable and workforce homes and represents more than $1 billion of assets under management. Chris was previously a director with Enterprise’s Housing Credit investment team from 2006 to 2012, where he analyzed, evaluated and underwrote affordable housing investments that leveraged the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (Housing Credit) and the Federal Historic Tax Credit. Chris has been involved in housing finance since 2005. Before joining Enterprise, he worked with John Hancock Realty Advisors in Boston, where he directly invested in affordable housing projects that leveraged the Housing Credit, Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credits and state tax credit programs. Chris graduated summa cum laude from Northeastern University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a dual concentration in finance and entrepreneurship.

Kelley is the Director of Investments for the Leon Levine Foundation and L&L Management, the Levine family office. Kelley joined the Foundation and Levine family office in 2024 as their first Director of Investments. He brings fifteen years of experience as an institutional investor and allocator. He spent the first decade of his career at Cambridge Associates managing impact investing portfolios for some of the country’s largest foundations, family offices, and religious institutions. More recently, he helped lead an impact-focused fintech startup. Prior to his investment career, Kelley worked as an educator and college minister. He holds a B.A. In Religious Studies from the University of Virginia, an M.A.R. from Yale Divinity School, and is a CFA charter holder. He and his wife, Elizabeth, have two children.
