Housing the Middle: A national survey of programs to encourage middle-income housing
- Feb 2024 — By Emily Park
This research paper published by the San Francisco Bay Area Planning and Urban Research Association (SPUR) provides over 40 programs in the United States that encourage the development of mostly rental properties that formally restrict housing to households at 80% to 120% of the AMI. These programs offer different incentives in a different range from property tax abatements to financing in the forms of loans and grants. https://www.spur.org/sites/default/files/2023-10/SPUR_Housing_the_Middle.pdf
